Bu eser, Alman ressam Carl Haag tarafından yapılmış bir tablo olabilir. Carl Haag, 19. yüzyılda yaşamış ve oryantalist sanat tarzında eserler vermiş bir sanatçıdır. Aynı zamanda suluboya çalışmalarında ustalığı ile bilinir. Haag, Osmanlı İmparatorluğu ve Yunanistan gibi Akdeniz'in çeşitli bölgelerine seyahat etmiş ve bu bölgelerin günlük yaşamlarını ve tarihi yapıtlarını resimlerine yansıtmıştır.
Bu tabloda, Atina'daki ünlü Erechtheion Tapınağı'nın Karyatidler Verandası'nın önünde oturmuş bir grup insan tasvir edilmiştir. Erechtheion, Akropolis'te bulunan antik bir Yunan tapınağıdır ve Karyatidler adı verilen kadın heykellerinin sütun olarak kullanıldığı mimarisiyle ünlüdür. Resmin ön planında yerel giysiler içinde dinlenen ve sohbet eden insanlar görülmektedir, bu da bölgenin kültürel ve tarihi atmosferini betimler.
